Welcome to my website, I offer a canine pregnancy scanning service based south of Bristol (North Somerset), . There is plenty of safe off road parking,  also  acres of  land  to walk your dogs. I have been established since 2010, I have been breeding dogs for 40 years so I have a wealth of experience not only as a breeder but also a farmer's wife for 37 years.

Scans are carried out  in a calm environment and can take place any time after 28 days after the last mating, although my preference is between 32-35 days. It is not necessary to clip the dog's fur but sometimes, with owners permission a small amount of abdomen fur may need to be removed on excessively hairy breeds for optimum scan quality. Small/medium breeds can be scanned  standing on my non-slip scanbox and larger breeds can be scanned by simply  standing on the floor.

Most scans take no more than 15 minutes and confidentiality is assured. The scan involves a detailed examination of the abdomen to confirm pregnancy, a picture of your bitche's scan can be emailed to you if required, if you do not have a mobile phone. The cost of a pregnancy scan is £25 during the hours of 10.00am-6pm weekdays and between 10am-12pm weekends (although I do extend these hours, please enquire), outside of these times could incur a minimum charge of £30

(At the moment due to CV19 hours are reduced)

Ovulation Cytology

Cytology is where I swab your bitch and look at the cells under the microscope to check if she is in ovulation. This is something I have done for over 30 years with great success it is a non invasive way of checking for ovulation.

Another way of checking for ovulation is blood testing. I have a good relationship with Edita at Vets4Pets Clevedon who is happy to test my client's bitches with their Idexx machine. They can be contacted on 01275 335930.

Artifical Insemination

Artificial insemination refers to the procedure of artificially introducing dog semen into the vagina or cervix of a female dog in order to bring about pregnancy. Artificial insemination (AI) has been widely used in cattle for decades, but only in recent years has it found a niche amongst dog breeders.

It is most frequently carried out by experienced inseminators or by vets . In the UK, it is becoming popular.  Artificial Insemination procedure in dogs begins with semen being collected from the male dog. This is done by exposing the male to a female in heat. When he goes to mount her, his penis is diverted into a collection bag which collects the ejaculated semen, the semen is checked under a microscope to ensure healthy numbers of active sperm.  The female recipient is then inseminated.

In the UK, AI trans vagina is not classed as a veterinary procedure, trans cervical is classed as a veterinary procedure and only a vet can perform this, also to note only a vet or a veterinary nurse can take blood from a dog. I keep all my work within the law, I have been performing AI for over 30 years.

What our customers are saying

Sharon scanned my girl last month and i couldn’t fault the experience. I’ve had scans done before by mobile scanners and vets who charge a lot more money. We arrived late because we were stuck in traffic and Sharron was so kind, she was brilliant to our little girl, very gentle and made sure she was comfy. The actual scanner she used was the best I’ve ever seen, we could clearly see the pups, heart beats, faces etc and Sharon let us take a video! She also offered us loads of advice and was just genuinely a nice lady. Will never go anywhere else now. Our girl had a litter of 7 healthy puppies last night which was the estimate given. We find the scans are helpful for what to expect and also if you have a single pup there’s more complications so we like to be prepared. We’d just like to say thank you Sharon
